Born Robert Francis Neate, he dropped out of school at age fifteen to pursue his dream of becoming a jazz drummer. He contributed to such artists memorable recordings as The Kinks' "You Really Got Me" (1964), Dusty Springfield's "I Only Want To Be With You" (1964) and Petula Clark's "Downtown" (1965). He was regarded as being one of the top sessions drummers in the United Kingdom during the 1960's. ![]() In addition to sessions work, he became a successful record producer and led his own jazz band. ![]() Among the many other noted artists Graham worked with include The Animals, The Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits and Tom Jones. However, with the skiffle music craze sweeping Britain at the time it was easier finding a gig with the local rock band Billy Gray and the Stormers. ![]()
